Sabres take 9th Place at Nationals! (21/04/2008)

Day 1
Win 1 - 0 over the defending champs Oxford.
The second game was against our good friends Huddersfield where we won 3 - 1.
Third game was against Sheffield who beat us 4 - 0.

Day 2
We lost to London 1 - 0.
Followed by 2 more losses.
The first to Northumbria 2 - 0 and Cardiff 5 - 0.
Due to our rankings, we competed for 9th or 10th place against Newcastle; where we won 3 - 0.

So out of 13 teams, we came in 9th.

Petition to the government for more local ice rinks! (04/03/2008)

There is a petition to the government to build more rinks in local areas. We need to put pressure on them to provide more facilities for the following reasons:

cheaper ice time (the supply of rinks will hopefully bring prices down)
more reasonable ice time (no more midnight face-offs!)
more jobs for the local communities (both in construction and management)
a reduction in journey times and therefore, a reduction in CO2 emissions (rinks are closer together)

With rumours of further rink closures, it is imperative we get as many people to sign this petition as possible. A national drive for ice rinks will benefit everyone in the ice hockey world.
